The Minelab Explorer XS was the metal detector that started a revolution in the metal detector industry. What made the Explorer so special was it's unique operation. The Explorer XS used 28 multiple frequencies at one time while metal detecting instead of the traditional one frequency used by most other metal detector up until the Minelab Explorer was released.
Though not manufactured anymore the XS can be found quite frequently for sale in other markets like our auctions area.
The other aspect of the Explorer XS that made it such a revolutionary metal detector was it's 2D discrimination. Being the first metal detector ever to offer anything like it. The Explorer XS Metal Detector discriminates on two plains. By looking at both the ferrous and conductive property of an object the Explorer is able to give a highly accurate assumption of what you are detecting before you start digging.

I have two explorer XS,they are the the best money can buy. I have had no problems with. I have found so much stuf,from relv. war,1812 war, civil war, buttons,bullets,buckels,coins,rings, (silver)civil war ID.tag thats in the north&south trader. all You need to do is take the time to learn how to use it. it is very easy.
The Explorer XS metal detector took me deeper than I had ever been before. Reopening old hunting sites and making previously questionable sites worth while.
The Minelab Explorer XS was truly a cutting edge metal detector that revolutionized the hobby of metal detecting!
